Trina Good

After being warmly greeted by EARL HALL, we joined in song and pledge then BECKY SCHOLL gave the day’s invocation. One guest, MaryAbigail Dills, VP of Operations for the Yakima Chamber of Commerce, was introduced by EARL HALL.

PRESIDENT CAMI asked STEVE EMHOFF for a report on the Father Daughter Winter Ball “The Nutcracker”. STEVE asked that all the committee members stand and be recognized as well as all who participated in the set-up and tear down. All were given a well-deserved round of applause. STEVE reported that this year’s dance was the most successful yet and a sell out at 254 tickets! The silent auction resulted in $2,100 – thanks to JO MCLAIN for organizing it. PRESIDENT CAMI and PENNY BAKER did a great job selling raffle tickets ($1,090) for the beautiful diamond necklace graciously donated by member PAT GILMORE and Dunbar Jewelers. STEVE said the Yakima School of Ballet gave a wonderful 30 minute performance of selections from The Nutcracker – thanks to Joann Benson for arranging this performance. Chad Bremerman donated his time as DJ – thanks to Chad. STEVE also thanked KARL CORPRON for the very nice programs. After expenses, the Club netted $3,400! Some pre-sales for the 2013 dance have already been made! A decision will need to be made on where to move the dance before next year as we have outgrown the Clarion. CAMI thanked STEVE and all the committee members for a JOB WELL DONE!

CAMI reported that a committee of CAROL HELMS, CHRISTINE COTE, WENDY AGUILAR, and CAMI met to beginning planning our Club’s participation in Kiwanis One Day on April 21st. They are looking at possibly working for a few hours at Rod’s House and having a barbeque afterwards. Volunteers will be needed.

KARL CORPRON announced that a preliminary meeting for Rock the Gap will be held in the next couple of weeks.

CAMI also mentioned that we will have an Interclub on Saturday, 1/28 at the West Valley Kiwanis Crab Feed. If you are going, call Penny Baker. The Zone Conference is Saturday, 4/28 in Spokane. Our Lt. Governor would like a head count soon. The Kiwanis Trust meeting is coming up on February 13th.

CAMI announced that STEVE EMHOFF won the Community Service Award at the recent Realtor Installation Banquet. Congratulations Steve!

BECKY SCHOLL introduced our guest speaker, Karl Eastlund, President/CEO of the Greater Washington and Northern Idaho Planned Parenthood. Karl gave a very informative program about the organization; including the 9 clinics in our district. Planned Parenthood’s mission is to provide exceptional reproductive and complementary healthcare services, honest education, and fearless advocacy for all.
