CHRIS CHRISTMAN called bingo which was won by RUSS ROBERTS. PRESIDENT CHRISTINE won then lost the 50/50 drawing. Sargeant PHYLLIS MEYERS quizzed us on Fathers in anticipation of Father's Day, did you know it originated in Spokane?
DON DAVIDSON introduced our speaker Kiwanian David Helseth. David has been pastor at Englewood Christian Church for the past 23 years. David spoke about his mission trip to South Korea in May. S. Korea has a population of 6.6 million all living on real estate about 1/2 the size of Washington State. There is a complex war going on between N and S Korea. Most Koreans live on less than $2 per day and poverty and prostitution are a rampant. One of the good things David witnessed are the workings of church run shelters targeting girls that have been trapped in the prostitution trade. Church workers help the girls get out of the business by providing a place to stay, education and health care.
