MARCH 16, 2010
Pat Danielson PRESIDENT CHRISTINE opened the meeting with STEVE EMHOFF our greeter, LINDA HACKETT giving her invocation and sharing the word for the month - tolerance. JULIUS GLOVER led us in our patriotic song and the we were off on a great meeting.
GENE ROSTVOLD told of the successful basketball tourneys and SPENCER HATTON accepted and Thank you for the great Herald coverage during the tournaments. KARL CORPRON kept us informed of the happenins on Rock the Gap --38 tables to go. And we were reminded by Spencer that Songest is happening this Saturday night at the Capital Theatre.
On May 22 there is a Bowling Competition and President Chris is looking for a Kiwanis team of 5 people. I missed where the funds will go but I am sure it is a good cause! More details to follow.
RUSS ROBERTS then assumed the duties of sergeant and between brags and no pins managed to get most of us.
CHRIS CHRISTMAN then called Bingo. PRESIDENT CHRIS won and then lost the 50/50. The pot continues to grow!
MIKE WILSON then introduced our program who was none other than Lynn Smith. Lynn is a former member and Vice President of our Club (who also turned in his membership application!). He is employed with an oil company in Alaska spending 2 weeks there and 2 weeks here. His background in building roads and managing big equipment makes him very valuable on the North Slope and he loves it! Lynn keeps us up to date with what is going on in the area in drilling and pipeline construction. He also had great photos of the area and the wildlife that maybe was not as wild as they hoped!
Program next week is Rick Phillips with the Union Gospel Mission.
