Pat Danielson

Could Spring be getting here?? Next week will be March so we are getting close. Greeting us for this end of winter meeting was TERRY ARCHER. PRESIDENT CHRIS opened the meeting and called upon DELMAR PEARSON to lead us in our Pledge to the Flag. JULIUS GLOVER led us in song and MARY BETH WRIGHT did our invocation after reading words of inspiration.

We had no guests to introduce except for our program Wendy Culver insisted she was a Selah Kiwanian that needed to be introduced!.

Words of sadness and sympathy were expressed for LYNN BUCHANAN whose brother passed away this morning.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: GENE ROSTVOLD reminded us of the upcoming Basketball State Tournaments coming to the Sun Dome and what economic pluses those tournaments bring to Yakima.

BLUE JEANS BASKETBALL: MARY BETH WRIGHT told us to reserve May 10, 11 and 12 for DYE Blue Jeans Basketball. Plenty of opportunites to volunteer and have a great time at Davis Highschool gym. More to follow.

RTG - KARL CORPRON then reminded us again of Rock the Gap. Be sure to get or sell your tables/

SGT. AMY NEAL then quizzed us all on the Olympics and made lots of money off of our lack of knowledge!

CORKY MATTINGLY reminded us of the exhibit at the Museum on Women's Suffrage and that there are many activities going on in connection with our 100th anniversary of the right of women to vote in our state.

WENDY AGUILAR then introduced our program, Wendy Culver on the new professional football team, The Warriors, that is coming to Yakima. It is indoor arena football at the Sun Dome in a 50 yd instead of 100 yd field. Single tickets are $12 and $5 (age 62 and military) for general admission. Costs vary for different areas of seating and also for season tickets. Sponsorships are also available. Lance Brown is the head coach and there are many local players plus others. Players are getting involved in the area's volunteer opportunities. There will also be Grid Kids in association with The Warriors and they will play before the games. The season runs from April 3 to June 26. call 1-800-325-7328 for tickets or you can go to www.yakimavalleywarriors.com

Program next week will be 1st Tee.
