BETH KLINGELE Tuesday’s meeting will feature our own AMY NEAL and Garron Jones telling us about their recent trip to Viet Nam. This is sure to be a great program so plan to attend.
Last week thanks to Greeter: PENNY BAKER, Invocator and our sergeant: CAROL HELMS Pledge of Allegiance Leader and Veteran: DELMAR PEARSON. CHRIS CHRISTMAN called bingo without the benefit of balls (I mean without all the equipment, I mean… oh …never mind you know what I mean!) Joanne Benson was guest of JOHN BENSON, Larry Scholl was guest of BECKY SCHOLL and we had at least one other guest. Guests are always welcome!
JO MCLAIN announced that the father daughter dance is looking for silent auction items. PLEASE bring them to our next meeting. STEVE EMHOFF announces that tickets for A Night in Venice are going strong! The father daughter dinner is this Saturday (Jan 16th) Contact Steve for tickets. Also Steve mentioned our rosters will be available Tuesday.
Thoughts and well wishes go out to JULIUS GLOVER who is recovering from knee surgery.
Amid a fat filled pasta lunch, speaker Carrie Satler, GM of the Yakima Athletic Club (with assistance from Chris Bells) spoke to us about the law of thermodynamics – the simple truth is that to lose weight, energy in (calories) must be lower than energy out (calories burned through exercise). The average 150 lb person should be eating 1800-2000 calories per day and exercising 60-90 minutes per day. Eating more or exercising less will probably cause weight gain. There are many technology tools out there to help us monitor our energy usage; one is the Excerspy that the YAC promotes. These tools can help us with awareness, motivation and help us take responsibility for our plan. Carrie also promotes taking at least 10000 steps per day. The Excerspy or a simple pedometer can help you stay on track. Sleep also helps with weight loss; lack of sleep can actually hinder weight loss. YAC offers a Get In Shape contest – the program is 12 weeks and the winner is guaranteed at least $1000
