Pat Danielson Another meeting with a full house! Good job President Christine. LINDA HACKETT greeted us at the door. STEVE SOELBERG did his best on our prayer and JULIUS GLOVER led us in song and thanks to the addition of EARL HALL to our membership, we are sounding better!!! No offense to anyone else!
SPECIAL GUEST was Marek Michael Shockley with his first appearance with his mom, TRESSA SHOCKLEY.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: DELMAR PEARSON announced that the trust received a check today for $125,000 from the estate of Helen Jewett. Thank you, Helen, you were a wonderful woman that continued your good works even after you were gone.
PHYLLIS MEYER, chairperson of the Salvation Army Bell Ringing on December 1 suggested that we try singing (has she heard us sing?) or playing an instrument when we are ringing bells. Maybe we should talk to some Choirs! Everyone signed up and we only have 5 openings left.
Remember the Father/Daughter dance and the committee meeting is Monday at Avail Home Nursing.
Next weeks meeting is at YV Tech, just east of the Fairgrounds and near the Bears ball field and we won't mention any other landmarks. Contact Wendy so she can order the food.
New Member CAROL HELMS was welcomed by PRESIDENT CHRIS. And already Carol loves Kiwanis and Chaingang!
Sgt.Phyllis Meyer then did a great job in collecting $$ and involving the membership.
CHRIS CHRISTMAN, our resident Bingo Caller, then called Bingo and I didn't write down who won but I am sure it was someone very worthy. The 50/50 drawing was then won/lost by EARL HALL. The pot was at $244.
Program: Doug Warren, vice president of the Board of Directors, for Crime Stoppers then shared his passion for the organization that helps in the catching of criminals. In 15 years $100,000 in rewards have been given out locally and 920 felons have been arrested. The organization has raised the funds by doing a fund raiser over the weekend before Memorial Day with 1000 bike riders riding in the Canyon. The Canyon road between Ellensburg and Yakima is closed to all by local traffic from 8 to 4 and the riders can ride for 35 miles with a minimal amount of traffic. The ride is meant for families but some do make it into a more difficult ride. The main riders have been from Seattle in the past but this year their will be locan advertising and it should spread to local bike riders also.
