Beth Klingele Upcoming Program Tuesday: Crime Stoppers with Dave Purcell
Update your Calendar:
• Salvation Army Bell Ringing – Dec 1st – PHYLLIS MEYER will have signup sheets as the date approaches.
• Kiwanis Family Christmas Party – Dec 15th 5:30PM at the Yakima Convention Center – no noon meeting
• Apple Cup Dinner - Nov 24th Noon – put on by Apple Valley and Kamiakin Kiwanis
We were greeted by JULIUS GLOVER, LINDA HACKETT was our invocator, JAN LYON won bingo, ROCKY MARSHALL had the winning 50/50 ticket but did not draw the jack and STEVE EMHOFF was our sergeant and stumped us with obscure quotes and Kiwanis facts.
We had many delightful guests: From Kamiakin Kiwanis: Darlene Green, Bill Powell, Barbara Breeze and Ken Johnson. Walt Nelson and Herb Schmidt joined us from Selah Kiwanis and President CHRISTINE brought potential (and as of Thursday’s Board Meeting “for reals”) member CAROL HELMS.
Our Program was Chris Morrow and Becky ____ from Salvation Army. Chris has been in the Salvation Army for 32 years with her husband. She and her husband came to Yakima in 2007. Chris runs women’s and children’s programs. Becky has been involved with the Salvation Army since she was 14. Last years she took over running the bell ringing program which helped 1106 families last Christmas and brought in $96000 which was above the goal. The Salvation Army’s other program at Christmas is partnering with the Marines on Toys for Tots, which kicked off this week. The Salvation Army has many volunteer opportunities and you can call them at 453-3139 to find out where help is needed if you have the time.
Quote of the Week from President Christine:
It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.
