Pat Danielson Second meeting for PRESIDENT CHRISTINE COTE and another full house. Is it because of our new President or do we have less places to sit?????? Lets say it is a sucess story for President Chris! Our greeter and scribe was me and KARL CORPRON led us in prayer after a wonderful poem for thought. JULIUS GLOVER led us in song and our speaker, Sec of State Sam Read led our Pledge to the Flag.

Election of new Board Members for the 2009-2010 Board are PHYLLIS MEYER AND STACEY DRAKE. Thank you and congratulations!
ROCKEY MARSHALL then was a first time Sgt. and did a great job. He brought in the cash to the admin budget and got even more $$ for those that bragged about new grand children and even great grand children.
DAN MARPLES then won the big $5.00 for Bingo and Rockey then lost the 50/50 which means we all have another chance at over $195.00.
PRESIDENT CHRISTINE then introduced our speaker, Sam Reed, Washington State Secretary of State and also a former president of the Olympia Kiwanis Club. And she also introduced Sam's assistant Joanie Deutsch (sp)who is on the Board of Directors at the Olympia Kiwanis Club. Christine shared tht she and Sam worked together on the American Cancer Society. Sam also reminded us that our member CORKY MATTINGLY is a key leader of the State's celebration of the Women's Suffrage Movement when we were the first state to allow women to vote in the 20th Century.
Secretary of State Reed then explained how this week formally lauches election season. The ballots go out this week and you should read your voters pamphlet and vote with knowledge. Take the time to understand the issues.
He told us about the 2004 gubernatorial recount where it was discovered there were 1700 illegal votes from bad voter registration. Things are much improved and are the cleanest they can be with new methods now in place to make sure of that. Social Seurity records are timely checked for deaths and people moving. Felons are kept better track of.
Also moving the primary back to August gives more time to get organized for the general election.
Program next week is Aspire Mentoring Program, Tom Oliva and Greta Bryan.
