Beth Klingele Upcoming Program Tuesday: Secretary of State Sam Reed – a great meeting to bring a guest.
Last Tuesday was our New President CHRISTINE COTE’S first meeting and we welcomed several guests. LYNN BUCHANNON, who celebrated the coming of the fall season literally, brought is wife Connie. JOHN BENSON brought JoaAnn and President Christine brought several of her Perry Tech co-workers including Carol Helms, director of financial aid. Kaida Lockbeam, who has worked for Perry since she was 17, Erin Fishburn, foundation director, Leann LaBissionaire, Marketing Director, and Nathan Hull, Dean of Education.
STACY DRAKE and PHYLLIS MEYER were nominated to fill open positions on the Board. Voting will be next week.
Former President RON ZIRKLE thanked everyone who worked hard on our Fair Bingo Fund Raiser and gave several awards including:

Best Player- JOHN BENSON

Ron reported we took in about $11600 and made about $4800 profit. Kiwanians worked 423 hours.
Our President Christine won Bingo. And for the 50/50, sorry I can’t make out my own writing to see who had the winning ticket, but whoever they were, they didn’t win the pot, so we don’t really care, do we?
Our program was appropriately for President Christine’s first meeting, Perry Tech Medical Office Administration Students who gave a presentation on the program. The program began two years ago and is now a 18 month program which included medical coding. Classes average 20-24 students and the school has an 84% retention rate so far.
The cost of the program is $14000 + books and supplies. The program is intensive and includes 3 weeks of externships. Just one week after the first class graduated 25 of 38 students have found work in their field. Perry has a financial aid office to help students obtain grants and loans and a career services office that helps polish resume’s and conducts mock interviews.
Perry is hiring a counselor and is looking into adding onsite day care to accommodate Perry Students.
