APRIL 28, 2009
Pat Danielson Another small crowd was greeted by our PRESIDENT RON ZIRKLE proudly attired in his Argyle vest. We were welcomed by MIKE WILSON who not only was the substitute greeter but he was the substitute Treasurer. PAT DANIELSON, after alerting everyone to their duties, forgot hers as greeter! Thank you, Mike! KARL CORPRON stepped in as the Invocator for the day and JULIUS GLOVER led us in song.
President Ron then had the following announcements:
Kiwanian of the Month of March was none other than me, Pat Danielson. I must have tricked him but I certainly appreciate the honor and the cup of coffee!
Then according to the requirements of the By-laws and tradition, President Ron reported that the Nominating Committee presented the following candidates for officers and directors. The annual meeting will be on May 12 so this was the official two week notice.

Our program was our very own newest member ALBERTA (BERT) REDWING. Bert has experience in various law enforcement, medical and business backgrounds. She was the Chief Deputy Coroner and Autopsy Assistant and Lead Investigator with Benton County. Bert shared her experiences in determining the cause, manner and time of death. She emphasized that anyone can call the coroner for an unattended death. She gave us much information and is such a way we could realize that her job is a part of life or death depending on who she is meeting with. She showed us the equipment that she uses. (We will never look at pruning shears the same again!) A Coroner position has no requirements other than being 18 years of age and have the money to file for the position. She explained to us the ways a time of death is determined. Autopsies of children are mandatory. Her favorite TV show that displayed the truest tales of what happens with the coroner’s office was Crossing Jordon. Thank you Bert for a great informative program. Next week’s meeting is at Perry Tech.
May 12 is our annual meeting and reports will be given by the committee chairs.
