MARCH 17, 2009

Pat Danielson

It was a Happy St. Patrick's Day with a warm greeting by our very own Scottish PRESIDENT RON. At least he did not wear his sweater vest! JOHN BENSON was at the door to welcome us and STEVE SOELBERG prayed for us. BECKY SCHOLL led us in song and we didn't sound too bad compared to our President's seranade.

Guests joining us were:

Rocky Marshall, a prospective member and guest of CHRIS COTE.
Burt Redwing, who is also a propsoective member transferring from the Atomic City Club in the Tri Cities.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

MARCH 21ST is the 21st annual Songfest. SPENCER HATTON has his jokes ready and all of his workers ready to go. There will be 8 choirs and it will be filmed to later be enjoyed over and over on TV!

MAY 12,13 AND 14. Put these dates on your calendar for the fun Blue Jeans Basketball Tournament at Davis High School. MARY BETH WRIGHT will have more info on this fun event.

MAY 16th is Camp Roganunda Work Day with PAT ANDREOTTI in charge and leading us on. Projects plus breakfast and lunch will keep us busy. There will probably be a pre workday also so stay tuned.

And don't forget Rock the Gap on May 30th. Contact chairperson, BETH KLINGELE for more info.

Sgt.CHRIS COTE then managed to get our dollars whether we knew the St. Patrick's Day trivia or not.

BECKY SCHOLL then won/lost our 50-50 raffle. Way to go Becky -- it gives us a better chance next time for more money.

Program Chair, TRESSA SHOCKLEY then introduced our program. Jim Owens joined us from Renton to tell us all about Catch a Special Thrill or CAST. It is a Fishing for Kids event at the Greenway. Jim, who is also proud to be a Kiwanian)shared a video and the message of how much fun and important it is to have children learn about and enjoy the outdoors. Sgt. Hubbard Park Pond on May 9 will be the cite of the next CAST event in Yakima. Kids ages 5 -14 for only $5.00 can Fish, get a T Shirt and a fishing rod. For more information go to www.castforkids.org or call Jim at 425-251-3202. Or you can contact the Yakima Greenway at 453-8280.

Program next week is Randy Keaner (Memorial Hospital) Nutritional Speaker.
