DECEMBER 30, 2008
Pat Danielson The last meeting of the year and we had a full house and a fun meeting. Almost retired PRESIDENT RON ZIRKLE welcomed us in his traditional sweater vest. We were so warmly greeted by KIRSTEN DANIELSON who was also the Sergeant for the day and PAT DANIELSON led us in a New Years meditation and also was the scribe. It was a Danielson meeting except for everything President Ron had WENDY AGUILAR do for him!
Special guests was an Interclub from Selah. STEVE EMHOFF introduced Jan Lyons from Avail home Health who is a propective member. DON KOHLER brough his better half, Evelyn and KEVEN MCVICKERS, a prospective member, also joined us.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: President Ron announced that the Olive Garden in appreciation of having Santa and Edward the Elf join them donated $172 to our club....now it should be no problem with the extra that Edward needed for his Santa gifts! Thank you Olive Garden and Santa and Edward!
President Ron then presented the October appreciation award to ROGER BELL for his tireless work at Bingo. His Thank you included a Starbucks gift card. Thank you Roger!
JO MCLAIN AND STEVE EMHOFF reminded us of the Father Daughter Dinner Dance that is coming up on January 17. Tickets at $65 a couple are still available. A surf board was located in Sisters Oregon for the pictures for the dance. Our committee goes all out! The DJ's his year will be lance Braden and Chad Bremerton.
JO also reminded us of the Aktion Club's installation banquet which is Janury 13. We will have an interclub.
RUSS ROBERTS led the Bingo calling and he allowed our President Ron to win! But there was no winner on the 50/50 which is good since there isn't much money!
Sgt. Kirsten then did a New Years quiz which got most of us and then fined newly promoted SPENCER HATTON who is not the Editorial Page Editor of the Yakima Herald and to be retired President Ron from being the Yakima County Prosecutor and for Wendy who has another new job at Burrows Paper Corporation.
Program: Jo then introduced Mary Egan who gave us a great program on dance. She not only shared her enthusiasm for dancing she and her partner Dan, demonstrated an entertaining display of ballroom dancing. Mary started dancing 20 years ago when she took a class from Arthur Murry school with her step son. In 1993 she started teaching and when she came to Yakima (she is Dr. Jim Egan's sister) she learned that teaching was the thing for her. She gives swing, salsa and ballroom dancing lessons at the Athletic Club and at Harmon Center. There is beginning and Intermediate levels. Give Mary a call at 966-2659 for more info or contact her at maryegan@charter.net.
Next weeks program is Mathew Erlick from Goodwill.
Reminder that the Board Meeting is on January 8th since the 1st is a holiday.
