We all paid a dollar for the privilege of NOT having a fill-in sergeant for the day as SPENCER HATTON missed his assigned duty. There were, however, plenty of brags to help bolster the kitty.
Bingo was called by BECKY SCHOLL and won by STAN PRATT. 50/50 winning ticket holder Chris Cote, who had her ticket drawn by her very own guest, drew a queen. By losing, the prize will grow from its present $634.50 to whatever we make it next week.
TRESSA SHOCKLEY introduced the meeting’s program, Perry Tech’s new Medical Office Administration Program headed by Lashel Church. Lashel introduced the presentation by the first all female class in the history of Perry Tech.
The 20 members of the Medical Office Administration Program then took over. They went over a brief history of Perry and then delved into some of the “Soft Skills” they learned during their year of instruction. Different class members talked of how they run class like a business in order to prepare the students for real life. After the basic courses, they move on to medical specific curriculum, including extensive training in Microsoft Office. Graduates of the Medical Office Administration Program are able to take optional testing and receive advanced certification as Microsoft Certified Application Specialist, a National Certified Medical Office Administrator, or National Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist. These advanced certifications will enable the students to get better paying jobs, which Lashel estimated will pay between $14 - 18 per hour. The students ended by inviting anyone to the open house on October 9th from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Perry. The next Medical Office Administration Class starts April 6th.
