Board Meeting Minutes
February 3, 2005

February 3, 2005
Market Place Deli

The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM by President, Mel Light.

Also in attendance were: Pat Danielson, Cherie Ergeson, Amy Neal, Kirsten Stoffer, Ron Zirkle and Louise Tabayoyon.

Guests in attendance were John Benson, Lori Crow, and Mike Wilson.

Minutes Approved – Pat moved and Amy seconded to approve the Jan. 6th meeting minutes. Motion carried.

Member Resignation – Mel shared an email letter from Rod Allen who regretfully resigns his directorship and membership because he has accepted a controller position in Kent, WA. Cherie moved and Pat seconded to accept his resignation effective 03/31/05. Motion carried.

Funding Requests – Mel presented two funding requests received from 1) the Eisenhower Orchestra and Jazz Band and 2) the Discovery Lab School. Because funding was not included in the current budget plan, Louise will reply with a denial letter stating that all funding applications must be submitted prior to our budget planning process.

Member Roster Books – Amy shared some member’s questions about when the roster will be available and will they be in booklet form as in the past. Louise reported that Steve Soelberg is very close to having an updated roster available to all members in CD format as was approved in the budget. Discussion followed regarding the need for a paper copy as well. Amy moved and Ron seconded to pay the cost of distributing the roster on CD to each member, as was budgeted, and to offer a paper copy, at cost, to any member who wishes one. Motion carried.

MLK Geranium Sale – Kirsten reported that presale orders have began to come in already. The project budget submitted last month planned for the purchase of 3000 geraniums, which she now felt should be increased. Kirsten moved and Amy seconded to amend that budget to purchase an additional 1000 geraniums which would add an additional $1,900 net profit. Motion carried.

American Red Cross Hero’s Breakfast – Pat moved and Cherie seconded to approve the February 25th event as a club event for those members who wish to participate. Motion carried.

Trailseekers Auction – Kirsten moved and Pat seconded to contribute a Club donation to the Trailseekers Auction which will be held at Yakima Presbyterian on Sunday, February 27th. Motion carried. Kirsten will coordinate gathering items to offer in one large basket.

LocalToolbox Web Host – Kirsten reported that our web service is updating their platform operations, and this translates to greatly increased fees. If we do not request changes to our current setup, our cost should remain the same. Future budgets should consider eventual cost increases.

Financial Statements – Louise distributed the Administrative and Community Services reports highlighting the Admin CD’s maturing this month and the CS CD’s maturing in March. She also reminded the board of the increased deficit due to the downsizing of the geranium sales approved at the past board meeting.

Other Items – Kirsten reported that the Rock-The-Gap committee continues project planning. She also shared that EPIC had requested our participation in selling Playhouses on Parade tickets. Group consensus was that their event fell to close to RTG & Camp Roganunda. Before Mel got called away, he circulated the Yakima Schools Foundation invitation to the Feb. 19th Sweethearts Ball and John shared Father Daughter Winter Ball pictures.

Adjournment – With no other business to discuss, and in Mel’s absence, Kirsten adjourned the meeting at 1:05 pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Louise Tabayoyon
