 Yakima News & Information
Jason Emhoff was honored with the Govenor's Cup
SEPTEMBER 25, 2007
Installation of President Wendy
Pat Danielson

A fun and wonderful evening was enjoyed for the Kiwanis Club of Yakima's 86th Annual Installation of Officers honoring incoming PRESIDENT WENDY AGUILAR. The dinner meeting was held at the Clarion Hotel with about 50 in attendance. The social hour and silent auction was an added treat that went over better than anyone expected. Around $800 was raised for Wendy's president's project expected to be the new YWCA children's area.

Our greeter was PAST PRESIDENT STEVE PICKETT and PAST PRESIDENT DAN MARPLES took in all the money as acting Treasurer. PAST GOVERNOR STEVE EMHOFF had worked very hard putting together our wonderful evening and it came off with almost no hitches! PAST PRESIDENT AUDREY RICE made the tables look beautiful and tasty with cornucopia's of beautiful fall flowers and candy strewn around (and thank you to her granddaughter for helping!) A big thank you to all of those who donated the silent auction items. They were a wide range of wonderful and fun things!

PAST PRESIDENT PAT DANIELSON (this scribe) goal as MC was to make it fun and with my feeble attempts I think it was but with a great club like we have how could it be anything else.

All the Committee Chairs for 2006-2007 were acknowledged and thanked with only a couple of comments about PRESIDENT JOE KENNISH moving to Reno to gamble---or was that for work?

PAST PRESIDENT DAN MARPLES then was Sargeant for the evening and managed to get all the old and new officers and directors and a few others! Although rumor has it he had to tone it down since there were children in attendance! Thank you, Dan for making the evening even more fun. BRIAN BLOUNT, what was in that bag you paid $30 for without a question?

STEVE PICKETT then managed to make himself finally feel better about a BBQ in the Rock the Gap auction from 2006 by making this poor scribe pay $75 for a Camp Roganunda sweatshirt that was already hers. Where is the fairness in life? But I guess Steve has been asking that for over a year...

STEVE EMHOFF as Past Governor then did a very special presentation of the Governor's Cup (a large one!) to his son Jason as his very special inspiration in the great works for the Northwest Burn Foundation that have been accomplished in this district since Jason's terrible burns in the Thirty Mile Fire. Thank you, Jason and thank you, Steve.

Our own LT. GOVERNOR ROGER BELL then retired the past officers and directors and then got retired himself. Thank you Roger for the great job you have done this last year and every year.

LT. GOVERNOR KEN JOHNSON for 2007-2008 then installed our new officers and directors for the coming year. New directors are: KARL CORPRON, KIRSTEN DANIELSON, BETH KLINGELE AND KL WOMBACHER. CAMI LEONARD CORBIN will assume director for the remaining year.

PRESIDENT ELECT RON ZIRKLE then was "pinned" by his lovely wife, Mary as LT. GOVERNOR KEN JOHNSON installed Ron. Ken then installed our PRESIDENT WENDY AGUILAR and her lovely husband, Joe did the pinning honors! Wendy's children looked on with great pride and are now her "Secret Service protection".

WENDY then gave us a hint at what her presidency has instore and we are all looking forward to this new era of the next generation.

And one final word from a proud grandmother...bring your children to Kiwanis activities. It displays to them the devotion we have to community and the fun we have in doing it. So we can always continue on with many new generations.
