Pat Danielson

Another Past President steps up to lead us since President JOE KENNISH left for Reno! PAST PRESIDENT MIKE WILSON did a great job and even remembered we had to sing O Canada! or tried to sing O Canada! New member THERESA VITELLO greeted us and is completing her new member duties. STEVE SOELBERG led us in prayer. JULIUS GLOVER led us in song and I am your scribe for the week.

GUESTS: Guest of BRIAN BLOUNT was Richard Ensey with membership application in hand and also he and wife, Joyce helped at Rock the Gap. Way to go! STEVE SOELBERG brought Larry Hall CEO of Megladon if I got that right. Larry is looking us over and is a prospective new member! Thank you Brian and Steve.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: June 19 is golf day at River Ridge. Golf is in the afternoon and the meeting is a dinner meeting in the evening. Contact Mike Wilson for your golfing and/or dinner reservation.

MARY BETH WRIGHT brought the best bargains in town -- the left over candy from Blue Jeans Basketball and sold them for 50 cents a bag. Hopefully, she got rid of them!

Interclubs: There will be an Interclub to Ellensburg at noon on June 18th. It is their 85th Anniversay (and we chartered the club) There are at least 5 going and you should contact LYNN BUCHANAN for more info. Everyone will need to leave about 11 a.m.

ROCK THE GAP: CHAIRPERSON CHRIS COTE thanked all those that helped with a great Rock The Gap and acknowleded the committee members. It was a sold out evening and we are waiting to get the final results! All the proceeds are split with the Greenway and our half goes to the Kiwanis Trust for helping us with the MLK playground equipment project.

PAST PRESIDENT STAN PRATT got special recognition from PP Wilson for his many years of service to the club.

SGT STEVE PICKETT then used his bathroom reading on golf trevia and stumped most of the tables. He made money and also acknowledged those with birthdays and anniversaries for the month. You might even say he was clever....

50-50 LYNN BUCHANAN then did our 50-50 drawing and GENE ROSTVOLD won but didn't win and the pot grows. GENE then called a game of Bingo.

REMINDERS: June 23 is Club Leadership training in Pendleton Ore. Distict convention is in August and starts on the 24th.

PROGRAM: BARB GRECO then introduced our program -- Operation Downtown Renaissance with Jamie Stickel and Sean Hawkins. Jamie gave us a history of the group and then Sean challenged us with how the downtown can grow and become a vibrant part of the community. Check out their web site at www.downtownyakima.com and it will be even better as of Friday. It will show then the available businesses downtown for purchase or lease. They told us of the needs and the great desire to make our downtown once again a vibrant place to live and shop, Showing us the old and new that is going on now in our downtown. A great example is what has happened to the Talcott building with shops downstairs and nice apartments upstairs.
