SEPTEMBER 30, 2003
PAT DANIELSON KIWANIS DAY AT THE FAIR: As her last official act as President, BARB GRECO, (again without gavel) asked STAN PRATT to “ring” the plastic cup with a plastic knife to start the meeting at the Rose Garden of the Central Washington State Fair. Secretary LOUISE TABAYOYAN checked us in after Greeter, RUSS DIX, gave us our tickets. JULIUS GLOVER led us in song and STEVE SOELBERG helped us pray.
It was a beautiful day at the Fair and a new tent covering at the Rose Garden is to insure good weather and it is certainly working.
GUESTS joining us were Kamiakin member, Lynn Buchanan and his new wife, Connie; GENE ROSTVOLD’S father Keith; Julius’ wife, Jane; an Interclub from Apple Valley: Ron and Kathy Bonlender, Dennis Hunt who brought his mom, Irene and Don Bunton. Scott Woodworth was guest of CAMI LEONARD and Louise’s husband Bert chose to set at the “rowdy table”.
MIKE WILSON gave us a Bingo update with great numbers so far: Friday, $2398; Saturday, $3574*; Sunday, $2025 and Monday $2102. The great numbers on Saturday were decreased by our first ever (that anyone remembers) of a $1000 Black Out*! CHRIS CHRISTMAN was the caller and will be paying fines for a long time! President Barb and PAT DANIELSON are glad to be off the hook as big time money givers! A reminder that the location has changed. We are around the corner across from the Modern Living Building and seems to be a great move. Thanks for everyone’s help but help is still needed for Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Give Jon Ison or Pat a call if you can work.
Thank you to RICK LARSEN for the Blackout winner sign! Chris asked him to do it and he got it done. It is on display at the Bingo Tent.
KIRSTEN STOFFER reported that the MLK committee met and they are on their way for a year getting closer to the playground equipment. Kirsten asked if any members companies would like to help out to let her know.
President Barb then thanked everyone for a great year and especially her committees that made it so successful.
Curtis King of the Fair Board welcomed us and then introduced his fellow members, Sid Morrison, Trish Meyer, Mike Hogue, Joe Champioux and Jim Barnhill. Sid is an honorary member of our club and it was good to see him again. Curtis shared that the numbers are up this year in fair attendance and reminded us that the circus in the South corner of the Fair is a new addition with performances at 1, 5 and 9 p.m. and it is FREE and also the Parade each night is at 6:30. DON KOHLER, MEL LIGHT and Mrs. Hunt were the winners of the big stuffed animals that were presented by the Fair Board.
See you next week back at our regular spot with new PRESIDENT RUSS.
