PAT DANIELSON REMINDER: NEXT WEEK WE ARE AT THE FAIR IN THE ROSE GARDEN. RUSS DIX WILL GREET YOU AT THE NORTH ENTRANCE (BY THE BASEBALL STADIUM) WITH YOUR TICKET AND PARKING PASS. YOUR TICKET INCLUDES ENTRY TO THE FAIR, PARKING AND LUNCH! A GREAT BARGAIN! THERE WILL BE AN EXTRA CHARGE FOR GUESTS BUT STILL A GOOD DEAL!
A great day for PRESIDENT BARB and PRESIDENT ELECT RUSS started off with song led by JULIUS GLOVER, prayer by PAT DANIELSON and LOUISE TABAYOYAN doing the greeting. CHRISTINE COTE introduced guests, Don and Helen from the West Valley club, Barbara Anderson and Lt. Governor Elect Steve Anderson from Prosser, Lynn Buchannan from Kamiakin and Shelly Dix, wife of RUSS DIX.
President Barb tried to pass off a ribboned knife as her gavel to start the meeting but no one fell for it.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
BINGO: JAY CARROLL, 2003 Bingomeister, reminded everyone to sign up for Bingo at the Fair. We are at a new location opposite Pioneer Hall, near the Modern Living Building. Help is needed for the last Sunday, Friday evening and Saturday. The schedule will be on the Web page.
DUES VOTE: DAWN ALIVERTI announced the vote of the dues increase of $18.50 per year to cover an increase in District and International dues. ROGER BELL moved and RUSS ACKLEY seconded the motion to pass the increase and it was unanimously approved by members in attendance.
CHAIN GANG: MEL LIGHT said that volunteers were needed for Oct, 3, 17 and November 6 for the Chain Gang Crew. (Also listed on the Web page.)
CAMP ROGANUNDA HELP: STEVE PICKETT representing the Camp Fire Board announced that there will be some mini work days at Camp on October 11 and 18 if anyone wants to operate power tools and even spend the night at Camp. Contact Steve if you can help.
MEMBERSHIP: DAN EVANS shed his new member badge and Russ Dix awarded him his “regular” badge. Dan completed all requirements!
SARGEANT: The Sergeant, DOUG COCHRAN, had us helping CHRISTINE NEILL HORNER with her wedding (She just got married.) and managed to have most of the club involved and paying a dollar! Congratulations Christine!
HIXSON: As one of President Barb’s last official pleasurable duties she awarded our final George S. Hixson award to most deserving JOHN BENSON. She described John as the person who sparks the engine that runs the Club. He has been committed to the Budget Committee for many years, on the Board for repeated terms, donated a computer to the club, plus got his employer to pave the Fred Westerberg Pavilion parking lot at the Greenway, purchased the big grill so we could use it for Swim Meet, and always is working quietly behind the scenes. Good work, John, and most deserved!
THANK YOU’S: President Barb then presented golden bobble head cheerleader awards to those helping her this past year: Pat, VELMA CRAWFORD, LINDA HACKETT, KIRSTEN STOFFER, BRIAN BLOUNT, SALLY BALDWIN, Dawn, Russ D., Julius and STEVE EMHOFF.
The meeting was then turned over to Lt. Governor Steve Emhoff and incoming Lt. Governor Steve Anderson. Emhoff thanked those in the club for helping him with his most enjoyable year in Kiwanis and they were Audrey, Pat and Russ D. for convention help, Kirsten for her help on the new member committee. Kirsten picked up the project and ran with it visiting every club in the Division and doing a program at each. Steve thanked the club for the monetary and general support he received for his year as Lt. Governor.
Incoming Lt. Governor Steve Anderson then proceeded with the installation of officers and directors ceremony. He thanked outgoing Directors, LINDA HACKETT, JOHN BENSON and MAC PORTER and thanked outgoing Secretary VELMA. President BARB GRECO was then reminded that she will remain on the Board for another year as Past President and was then awarded, well almost awarded her past president’s pin which was promptly taken by Past President Doug to possibly be awarded to Barb later. Barb was then given her “gavel LESS” plaque for a Thank you for a job well done! New officers then were sworn in: LOUISE TABAYOYAN, Secretary Treasurer, LYNN SMITH, President Elect, STEVE PICKETT, Vice President and new President RUSS DIX.
New Board of Directors installed is: WENDY AGUILAR, SALLY BALDWIN, CHERI ERGESON AND JOE KENNISH.
Board members continuing are: BRIAN BLOUNT, MEL LIGHT, VENETTA MILLER, AMY NEAL AND KISTEN STOFFER.
