PROGRAMS – CLASSIFICATION TALKS-
(Editor’s Note: This was one of our greatest meetings. Our new members are full of energy, humor, intelligence and commitment. Sharing with us gave us a needed burst of enthusiasm. Thank you to the new members!)

LOUISE TABAYOYON – got to be first. Louise will take over for VELMA CRAWFORD next month as Secretary / Treasurer and she sounds as if she will be able to tackle anything we throw at her. She is locally born and raised in Wapato, the 13th of 14 children. She attended YVC in accounting, married in 1966 and traveled with her husband Burt to New Jersey, Panama, Fort Lewis and then Seattle and then back to Yakima. They have two boys, Rich a graduate of Evergreen State and Paul a graduate of Perry Tech. Husband Burt has retired after working for the city of Yakima. Louise has several connections with our club members. DON DAVIDSON got her a job as an accounting technician with the Yakima School District, she worked as Business Manager at KV+YVE with Barb Greco, did accounting work with BETH KLINGELE at Smith Day. After working with Catholic Family and Child Services and Catholic Charities she decided to do her own business. She now contracts individually with businesses to do payroll, accounting and likes to help new businesses get started. She does speak Spanish on a limited basis and enjoys helping new Hispanic businesses.

DAN EVANS- felt his family life was rather short since he is one of our younger members but it was lively! Dan was born and raised in Anacortes, WA. He said that it is a beautiful place to grow up. He was a Key Club member at Anacortes High and learned to appreciate Kiwanis. In community college he was a Kiwanis Moonlighters member, which was a group of young people that met in the evenings and how great times. Dan then graduated from WSU in Broadcast Journalism but decided that was not the career for him and then got his MBA at WSU. (He joins many other Proud Cougars in our club.) He is engaged to marry Darcy Hagen on August 9th and is looking forward to marriage although there were many groans in the crowd after that statement. He was one of the three out of 55 that were hired right out of school. He went to work for Washington Mutual and has great respect for them as a place to work and learn. He is a commercial banker and started in their 2 year training program but finished in one year. He loves people and Washington Mutual gives him the opportunity to work with many people even golf free! His clients are middle market business customers.

CHRISTINE NEILL – hales from Houston, Texas and born in 1980 makes her our youngest member! She was an Oregon Key Club member and joins RICH LEWIS as another alumnus of the University of Oregon (Quack!) She discovered Camp Fire in college and worked as a summer camp director so she comes to us with an appreciation of Kiwanis and a love of Camp Fire. She has one sister who is in Chili and a younger brother. Christine is also getting married and will be married on September 13th! Christine works in production at KIMA and shared a video of her work place and her duties. If you were not at the meeting, you missed a great way to get to know someone!

CAROL CAVANAUGH – comes to us from the YMCA where she is in human resources. She just celebrated her 2nd wedding anniversary on July 4th and has children and grandchildren. Carol shared one of her methods of getting to know employees and building teams and communications. You needed to be there to see us divided into 3 groups, joining hands across the circle, getting very twisted and then trying to get free. We were certainly glad everyone had used deodorant and it was the closest I had been to that many men in a very long time! It was much fun but we still want to know more about Carol!

CHRISTINE COTE- also grew up near Anacortes on a berry farm. (She and Dan will be comparing neighbors and teachers.) Christine was the 8th girl in a family of 9 and # 9 was a boy. She said her parents assured her she was not a disappointment. Her father played baseball for the Dodgers, scouted for the Yankees, the Pilots and the Brewers. Her mother was a teacher. Baseball was the center of their lives and she hated it until she discovered baseball camps at age 15 when that is where the boys were. She attended Western and Central Washington Universities and after working for the American Cancer Society and getting transferred to Yakima she opened the Discovery Shop and started the Relay for Life. She now is at Perry Tech as the Fund Raising Director. Christine has been married for 19 years to David and they have two children, Alyson, a Junior at Selah and Michael, an 8th grader. She has come full circle and loves baseball now and is an avid Mariner fan.
