WELCOME GUESTS
We welcomed Craig Arsheen, guest of GENE ROSTVOLD, and visitors Steve Hall and Mr. Gum, Northern California Kiwanian and former district governor. And Mrs. Haines, wife of our speaker.

APPLE CUP LUNCHEON NOV 20
The 9th Annual Apple Valley/Kamiakin Apple Cup Luncheon is coming of Wednesday Nov 20 Noon at the West Coast Gateway Hotel. The $30 ticket price includes a gourmet lunch and lots of fun. Contact Ron Bonlender 452-0563 or Doug Bommersbach 248-5660 for tickets. As an added bonus we get credit for two interclubs if we get four Yakima Kiwanians at the luncheon. Get your tickets early, as this event will probably sell out.

Mark your calendar for Tuesday December 3 for Salvation Army Bell Ringing. More information and a sign up sheet to come.

KIWANIS FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY
Mark your calendar again for our annual Christmas Party Tuesday December 17 and Englewood Christian Church. Remember this evening party will replace our regular noon meeting.

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM
Mac Porter will be introducing Martin John from the Yakima Hearing and Speech Center.

CONGRATULATIONS WENDY!
WENDY AGUILARA is expecting her third child. As a side note, PRESIDENT BARB and AMY NEAL wanted to make it clear that they are not expecting.

PROGRAM: DICK HAINES DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR FOR AKTION CLUB
Did you know that our local Aktion club is one of only 5 in the Pacific Northwest District? There are two in British Columbia, two in Washington and one in Oregon. Nationally there are approximately 60 registered Aktion clubs and probably many more that are not officially registered with Kiwanis International. Kiwanis is the ROCK of Aktion club according to Dick. R – is for recognition of individuals with disabilities, O is for the organizational help and structure we provide, C is for Council of the Aktion club members and K is of course for Kiwanis. Dick showed a video, which outlined the large responsibility as well as the rewards for sponsoring an Aktion club. We should all be proud of our commitment to the very special group of people and be sure and thank LINDA HACKETT next time you see her for chairing our club’s Aktion club committee. Check out the website for Aktion club www.aktionclub.org.
