PAT DANIELSON PRESIDENT BARBARA GRECO'S first meeting started with some sad news. SPENCER HATTON'S son Jed passed away on Tuesday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Spencer and his family. The funeral is Monday, the 14th at 4 p.m. at Englewood Christian Church. A request has been made for cookies to serve after the funeral. If you can bring some cookies (purchased or home made), please drop them off at the church at the time of the service or before to BECKY SCHOLL at 104 North 4th Avenue.
and some good news...President Barb's daugher is doing well and they have a new baby son that is very small (2+pounds) but doing good.
BARBARA POOL greeted our members at the door. AUDREY RICE led us in America and JAY CARROLL gave us our invocation.
ARCHIE SUTTON introduced our guest, Penny Baker, sales manager at both Gateway Motels and presently a member of Selah Kiwanis. She is looking at moving to our club as it would be more convenient for her. CHERIE ERGESON hosted Penny thereby exchanging her snake for a dog and who else would get the dog but RICH LEWIS.
President Barb shared the Club Assessment that resulted from the survey she did of the club. It will be presented in the Bulletin soon. 42 responded. The main responses were that members want the club to grow and
serve our community.
President Barb then introduced us to "President Barbie" who looked much like our President. MEL LIGHT got to take President Barbie home to one of his daughters.
J Blake gave a rousing thank you to all day captains and workers and we gave J a big thank you for successfully pulling off another Bingo year. The results are as follows:

STEVE PICKET asked for help for Saturday, October 12 at Camp Roganunda to work on the dining hall readying it for heat and renting out. Meet at Gold Creek Restauant at 7 a.m. Lunch will be served by Camp Fire. Let Steve know if you can work or lend some tools. They especially need a metal detector.
LYNN SMITH announced that we need one more for this Friday and DAN FISHER volunteered and one more person is needed for October 18.
LYNN, also interclub chairperson, announced that an interclub was done Tuesday a.m. to Prosser by KIRSTEN STOFFER, STeve Emhoff, PAM CALDWELL, and MIKE WILSON. Last Thursday JAY CARROLL, PAM, STEVE AND KIRSTEN went to Kamiakin.
It was announced that committee meetings count for make up meetings for perfect attendance but those committee meetings need to be reported to Velma for credit.
MAC PORTER called a rousing game of Bingo with Kirsten winning the pot.
Kirsten, Division 50 Young Children Priority One Chairperson, then explained what was coming for Young Children Priority One this year. She presented a banner patch to our club for 2001-2002 which was for the most money spent at $1475.00 and we were last on the hours. BETH KLINGELE and ROD ALLEN are co-chairing our YCPO committee. The new Kiwanis Moto is Serving the Children of the World and the emphasis this year will be on Kids in Cars and a partnership between Kiwanis and Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. BRIAN BLOUNT, co chair of the sargeant's committee along with JAY, then showed us many examples of how the sargeant's committee works to Rasie money for the administrative budget, spotlight members and their families, educate members, abuse people bacause it is fun and make announcements.
Meeting on October 22 is at the Yakima Center GAteway.
