PAT DANIELSON

A glorious meeting that was worth the wait. Although Gateway was not quite ready for us things got going and what a great ending for PRESIDENT DOUG and a new beginning for PRESIDENT BARB.

RICH LEWIS started us out with a wonderful invocation. Our introduction of guests included interclubs from Apple Valley: David, Josh, Galen and Governor Gary, Kamiakin: Galen, Pinky, Angie, Spud, Peggy and Ken; Selah: Roy Lewis (not quite an interclub), Prosser: Janet (also not quite an interclub). Other guests were PAM CALDWELL’s mom and dad, Shelly Dix, wife of RUSS, Bettie Ingham, wife of President Doug, GREG LYBECK brought the transformed animal that is now a snake???? And passed it on to CHERIE ERGESON. Greg’s guest was Bob Romero.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Lunch Tuesday, October 1, is at the Fair Grounds. Make sure Velma has your reservation. It will cost you an extra $5.00 but will include your parking, entry to the Fair and a great lunch in the Rose Garden.

AKTION Club was Tuesday night and our club is in charge. They were looking for drivers to give some rides.

Remember to sign up for Bingo. Some days are very short and need your help. Especially both Saturdays. If you can work them call STEVE PICKETT for September 28 and BARB GRECO for October 5.

GOVERNOR GARY MCGLOTHIN then introduced GOVERNOR DESIGNATE SYLVESTER NEAL and his wife Doris. GOVERNOR NEAL has moved to Auburn from Alaska to be closer to all of us and ROGER BELL presented him with the pennies that we have collected.

VERY SPECIAL AWARDS:

LYNN SMITH was called on to give the first HIXSON AWARD to ROGER BELL. Roger was honored with the Hixson for his outstanding volunteer work for our club and in the community. Roger has been with the Club for 13 years and has been Club President and has chaired almost all committees: Bingo, Santa Claus, Campfire, Camp Roganunda, a Board Member and everything else that he is asked to do and even if he isn’t asked. He is very active in his Church activities and has led the Prayer Walk to Bless Yakima.

MIKE WILSON then presented the second HIXSON AWARD to STEVE EMHOFF. Steve has been vital to the success of our Club. He has sponsored 38 new members, has 24 years of perfect attendance, has served many years as assistant Secretary Treasurer, served as President of the Club, and will now serve as Lt. Governor of Division 50.

Steve Emhoff then presented the third HIXSON AWARD TO MIKE WILSON. Mike has worked very hard for our Club and the community. He is former Club Secretary, for President of our Club, Lt Governor of Division 50 in 1998-99, member of the Charitable Trust Committee, chaired the very first 4th of July celebration and has 18 years of perfect attendance.

The HIXSON AWARDS are made through donations to the International Foundation in the amount of $1000.00 each. Our Club has raised these funds from our donations to IDD.

PRESIDENT DOUG AWARDS:

As his last official act, President Doug announced the following special awards:

Board of Director Awards to those that voted "no" the most went to JOHN BENSON and RUSS DIX.

For great new members participation award: AMY NEAL AND VENETTA MILLER.

For newest most active new member: KIRSTEN STOFFER who has volunteered for about everything.

Top Committee of the Year: BRIAN BLOUNT for Interclub Chairman who has almost successfully completed a Double Round Robin which will be completed next week.

Runner Up Top Committee: BULLETIN COMMITTEE , PAT DANIELSON, Chair, for keeping the Club informed and saving money at the same time.

Brought in the most new members: 1. STEVE EMHOFFf, 2. MIKE WILSON 3. BETH KLINGELE

Most Active Senior Member: MAC PORTER

Thank you to Secretary Treasurer, VELMA CRAWFORD for a job very well done.

Committee Chair of the Year: BARB GRECO for chairing four committees.

Volunteer of the Year: JERRY HENDERSON who had 108 Kiwanis hours of service and untold hour of community service.

The night before Roganunda Workday Award (a pack of cards): MIKE WILSON and MAC PORTER.

Kiwanian of the Year: ROGER BELL for coming through on Clergy Day, Bingo and everything else!


LT. GOVERNOR DESIGNATE STEVE EMHOFF then presented to the Club the following awards: $25 in Kiwanis cash, 2000-2001 Distinguished Club Banner Patch, Share the Dream Patch, 2000-2001 Multiple Service Award, 2000-2001 Multiple Service Diamond Award from Internationl, 2000-2001 Distinguished Club Secretary Award, 2000-2001 Pacific NW Distinguished Outstanding Secretary Award to VELMA CRAWFORD and to ROGER BELL, Distinguished President’s Pin.

Division 50 Lt. Governor Pinky Paxton then inroduced Pacific NW District Governor Gary McGlothlin who introduced Pacific NW District Governor Designate Sylvester Neal who thanked the following people:

1. His wife Doris who has allowed him to live his dream.
2. Roy Lewis (Selah) for host committee chair of the District Convention here in Yakima next August
3. Steve Emhoff for serving on the Pacific NW District Board.

Governor Neal announced his theme as Commitment Counts and will be presenting Centsational Awards for sponsoring a new member by the end of December.

Lt Governor Pinky Paxton and Governor Neal then installed STEVE EMHOFF as the next Division 50 Lt. Governor. He now can wear his Red Coat officially. Steve was Class President of all the Lt. Governors of the Division. Pinky then thanked everyone for their helped and presented our Club with the home club Lt Governor Banner.

Doug was then awarded his Past President’s pin which was promptly taken from him until he properly earns it from the Past Presidents.

Steve then thanked the outgoing Directors for their service and installed the new incoming Board Members: VENETTA MILLER, AMY NEAL, KIRSTEN STOFFER, BRIAN BLOUNT and MEL LIGHT.

VELMA CRAWFORD was then installed as Secretary Treasurer for 2002 -2003, VICE PRESIDENT, DIRK MARLER for 2002-2003, PRESIDENT ELECT, RUSS DIX for 2002- 2003 and our new PRESIDENT BARBARA GRECO FOR 2002 and 2003.
