BINGO BINGO BINGO
Central Washington State Fair – Sept 27 – October 6, 2002
The Central Washington State Fair is fast approaching and this means, rides, cows, corn dogs and BINGO!!!! It’s time to sign up to work BINGO. JAY BLAKE, this year’s Bingomeister, reminds us that this fundraiser provides 90% of our community service monies so it’s important that each and every Kiwanian participates. Sign up for two or three shifts at our meeting next week, or give Jay a call and he’ll find you a spot.

Check the web site soon for a list of Bingo shifts and who’s signed up.

PROGRAM: Garon Jones, Estate Planning
JAY CARROLL introduced Garon Jones (community property spouse of AMY NEAL) and attorney at the esteemed firm of Velikanje, Moore and Shore. Garon gave us some good information about estate planning, which isn’t just for the rich.

Garon discussed living wills, which tell your loved ones whether or not you want to be an organ/tissue donor and your preferences about life support. He also discussed two types of durable power of attorneys, wills, and community property agreements. He briefly touched on revocable living trusts, which are usually not appropriate for Washington residents, unless they own out of state real estate. With regard to wills, Garon discussed the fact that with IRA’s, and other accounts such as bank accounts that are set up as joint tenancy with right of survivorship that require a beneficiary designation will pass to the beneficiary you indicate on the account, ignoring your will, so make sure your IRA’s and other accounts, have correct beneficiary designations or you may end up benefiting one child or relative more than you wish to.
