Doug was looking for a 4th for an interclub next Tuesday (8/20) to Ellensburg for the morning meeting. STEVE, PAM AND DOUG are going. Contact Doug if you want to get out of YakiVegas for the morning.
WE WILL MISS YOU STEVE BOEKHOLDER
STEVE BOEKHOLDER hasn’t been with us long but has made quite an impression. Good luck to Steve as he moves on to greener, and dryer, pastures with Les Schwab Tire Centers in Salt Lake City, Utah.
WHOSE GOT THE BINGO APRONS?
Yes, they’re cute and stylish, but you need to give them back now. Whoever has our Kiwanis Bingo Aprons please return them, no questions asked.
WELCOME NEW MEMBER PAM CALDWELL
PRESIDENT DOUG finally got around to inducting Pam Caldwell into our club. Pam is a broker and part owner of Nob Hill Realty and does all the brokerage for United Builders according to her sponsor and special friend STEVE EMHOFF. Pam starting volunteering at Camp Roganunda before she had even been to a club meeting. She endured scraping wax rings on the toilets AND working with SALLY BALDWIN…. so it’s a wonder she still agreed to join our club. Welcome Pam!
PROGRAM: John Baule, Executive Director of the Yakima Valley Museum
John gave a very interesting talk about the renovations to our Yakima Valley Museum. Did you know that our museum has a collection of over 45000 objects from stagecoaches to business cards? Construction started on the museum’s remodel September 18, 2000 and the beautiful renovated facility will have a Grand Re-Opening on October 11-13, 2002. The goals of the renovation were 1) improving public access, safety and comfort 2) safeguarding the collections and 3) adding the capability for state of the art displays and programs.
The great hall is now wired for sound and the ability to show classic film. The museum is a great venue for small musical concerts and has recently been hosting Yakima Symphony chamber music concerts.
Check out a great website yakimamemory.org to see pictures from Yakima’s past. This was a collaborative effort of the museum and the Yakima Regional Library Association.
