PAT DANIELSON

ANNUAL GOLF DAY AT THE ELKS and PRESIDENT DOUG COCHRAN and House Chairperson, CORKY MATTINGLY, had trouble rounding up an American Flag so we directed ourselves to the SunDome and hopefully the Flag was there! Our meeting was short and the golf got underway.

GUESTS joining us were Ken Wilms, Mike Rudick, Harold Delia, Vern Redifer, Dick Anderwald, Russ Knight, Larry Martin, John Markland, Diane Poulin, Chuck Carroll, Chuck Huber, Steve Fisher and Don Erickson.

ANNOUNCEMENTS included a reminder of the Kiwanis Swim Meet Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Eisenhower Pool. If you have signed up -- BE THERE! Or just come for breakfast. It is a good value for the bucks and supports a good cause -- the YMCA Swim Team. Call Barb Greco if you need more information.

Yakima Kiwanis Family BBQ, July 13, 4 p.m. at the home of Amy Neal and Garon Jones. What to bring? You, your family, a dish to share and chairs. Provided for you will be meat and non-meat BBQ grilling items, face painting, lawn games, snow cones, paper plates/utensils, seed-beer and seed-soda. Address: 917 South 34th Ave. Park either on the street or at Nob Hill Elementary School.

Put on your calendar the Vintiques Bingo, a mini fund raiser, the first weekend of August. More delails to follow.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: SECRETARY VELMA CRAWFORD announced that the Board will have a special 5 minute meeting after our meeting Tuesday if there is a quoram in attendance. There was no quoram at the last Board meeting and Joe Kennish's membership needs approval and Tom Durrett's resignation needs approval. Tom is being transferred to Moses Lake and we will miss him. Come on Board Members, we need you!

UPCOMING PROGRAMS:
July 2 -- Sid Morrison will represent the Central Washington Fair and tell us about the upcoming wine event at the Fair Grounds.

July 9 -- Kathy Coffey from the Visitors and Convention Bureau will tell us about the new program to promote the wine industry in our area.

GOLF DAY WINNERS:

Golf Chairperson, MAC PORTER, announced the winners of the annual Yakima Kiwanis Gold Day and they were:

Two teams finished 9 under par and with a coin toss, the winners were Team #6, DAN MARPLES, John Markland, CAMI LEONARD and Diane Poulin. This is the only team that had two women and it turned out to be the best! Team #1 was the "2nd place team", MARK HAMPTON, STEVE SOELBERG and Ken Wilms.

DAN MARPLES won the long drive on #7 and DOUG COCHRAN won on #4. The Men's KP (closest to the pin) on #5 was Chuck Carroll and on #3 Harold Delia. The women's KP was on #13 DAWN ALIVERTI. Ken Wilms won the putting and chipping contest.

And the longest put left handed on #18 was Mike Rudick.

Thanks to all the committee members and others that helped, MARK HAMPTON, LYNN SMITH, ARCHIE SUTTON, RICH LEWIS, DON KOHLER AND DAN MARPLES. Thanks also to those that provided prizes: STEVE PICKETT, DAN MARPLES, RICH LEWIS, KEITH NELSON, MIKE RUDICK, DOUG COCHRAN, LYNN SMITH, WEST COST GATEWAY AND WENDY AGUILAR.

A sad note to the day was that DON KOHLER had to leave to be with his mother who had a stroke. Our thoughts are with you Don.
