Dirk A. Marler OH WHERE, OH WHERE HAS OUR LITTLE DAN GONE?
Tuesday’s guests were Elsine Stenberg from West Valley and Bill Cobabe. It was duly noted that Dan Fisher was not present. Dan—the longest holder of the mutated Roger the Rat--was expected to appear, bring a guest and be our Sergeant at Arms.
CLEAN-UP/GREEN-UP WAS A SUCCESS
Brian Blount announced that last Saturday’s Clean-Up/Green-up Project (also known as the Hurt in the Dirt) was a success. Among those present to help Brian on the project were Archie Sutton, Sally Baldwin and her husband Jim, Eric Waidman, Linda Hackett, Dr. Mike Wilson, Lynn Smith (and crew), Ron Zirkle, Jerry Henderson and three Aktion Club members.

President Doug announced that elections for club officers and directors will be held at the May 7 meeting. Those nominated are:

CLERGY DAY MAY 14
Roger Bell announced that the annual Clergy Dan luncheon would be at our regular meeting on May 14. This joint meeting with other Yakima area Kiwanis clubs is an opportunity to buy lunch for your favorite clergy member. Roger will have signups next week.
WE’RE EVICTED MAY 7 AND 21
Our May 7 and May 21 meetings will be held at the WestCoast Yakima Center instead of our usual location.
DOUG NEEDS HELP FROM COMMITTEE CHAIRS
President Doug said that a leadership group is working on formulating job descriptions for committee chairs. He sent e-mail to current chairs asking for their response by May 1. The goal is to have job descriptions for all new committee chairs before the new Kiwanis year begins October 1.
MATT EMHOFF SHARES HIS BRAZIL EXPERIENCES
Matt Emhoff shared slides and memories of his two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also known as L.D.S. or Mormon church) in Brazil for our April 23 program. Emhoff described the intense training process that he went through before he began his mission in and around Sao Paulo, Brazil. Sao Paulo is a city of approximately 12 million, with about 30 million people in the metropolitan area.
He said the most important lessons he learned were about the importance of serving people.
